Pixelpoke.com is the brainchild of Jason Waskey, a pixel jockey residing in Seattle Washington. Pixelpoke? Why pixelpoke? Well, this is what I do for a living. Pixelpoking is the art of manipulating digital art in a finicky fashion. I trained as an artist first at Parsons School of Design in New York City, and then, after the money ran out, at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Išve been a freelance illustrator for awhile, published a graphic novel, and been art director for both a newspaper and a comic book company. I now work as an art lead at Microsoft, making computer games. I also teach Introduction to Computer Graphics Applications at the Art Institute of Seattle. This is my first foray into the wonderful world of the World Wide Web. Anything you see here that you like is solely my doing. Anything that disturbs or annoys you is most likely the fault of the various software packages used to cobble this site together. This site is devoted to art created using pixels, but before I started pushing electrons around I used traditional media (what? no undo? this sucks!) to create images, and several people have asked to see some examples of this anachronistic work. Of course, for your viewing pleasure they have been converted to the digital domain, so I suppose that will have to do. To see even more, please vist the part of the site devoted to my traditional stuff here. |
